An exhibition of paintings by Fernando and Pablo Amorsolo from the UST Museum’s collection.


b) 2008 Flame of Asia, page 2

The exhibit consisted of paintings and sculptures by six female artists from six countries that caught attention of all Asian people which each artwork featured a feminine stroke in a very contemporary way.


c) MULING PTYK: Da Art of Nonoy Marcelo, page 3

UST Museum opened a unique and exciting exhibit of visual art by Nonoy Marcelo from the private collection of Atty. Saul Hofileña.


d) INCULTURATION: Christian Art in Various Cultures, page 4

Sophomore painting students of UST CFAD conducted this exhibit for their course on Liturgical Arts.


e) Witness to History, page 4

The special Independence Day exhibit showcase a Philippine flag owned and treasured by Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo and some small-scale horizontal format monochromatic painting by National Artist Carlos “Botong”.

UST CFAD and Traditional Filipino Arts shared the fruits of their art-making encounters with the traditional artists of Bulacan, Pateros and Paete.

The building was inaugurated on November 13, 1927.


b) The UST Museum unveils a New Logo, page 2

The new design features a “woven” look that evokes the museum’s task of weaving not only the fibers of society, history and culture together, but also joining the threads of the past with those of the present and thereby preserving both of the future.


c) Overlapping color Planes: Images of Overlapping Memories, page 3

Thesis exhibit that aimed to explore and establish a new way of painting reality through modified transparent cubism, and further innovation possibilities in cubistic painting style where overlapping color planes were introduced to portray images of overlapping memories.


d) Looking back: A Group Exhibition of Thomasian Artists, page 4

Daloy Kulay banded together in this exhibition to share their contemporary artworks and aimed to inspire young artists of today to continue what they have started, to motivate and inspire them to cultivate their God-given talent.

In celebration to the 10th anniversary of UST Graduate School Cultural Heritage Studies Program, an exhibition was opened at UST Museum Gallery together with the celebration of 25th Sacerdotal Anniversary of Rev. Fr. Isidro Abaño.


e) Maestro Vincent Manansala: 1951-1958 The Thomasian Episode, page 2

The University of Santo Tomas paid tribute to the Filipino artist Vicente Manansala in celebration of his centenary. The exhibition highlights Manansala’s “History of Medicine,” a mural at the lobby of the St. Martin de Porres Building.


f) Visual Color of Grace, pages 3-4

The UST Museum marked its 140th year with “Visual Color of Grace”, an exhibition that showcased the important, invaluable pieces of the visual art collection that included different artworks to present a trail map of the development of art training and painting in the Philippines from the late century to the 21st century.

The exhibition was based on situated learning which places emphasis on learning as a social activity.


h) UST Annual Inter-School On the Spot Painting Competition 2011, pages 5-6

In partnership with the Philippine Board on Books for Young People, opened the 28th National Children’s Book Day Exhibit with theme “Lolo Jose: Nagbabasa, Binabasa” which seeks to accustom the Filipino youth to the children’s stories written by the national hero.


b) Q Photo Exhibition, page 1

UST commemorated the 400th anniversary of its foundation, UST Museum is hosting the travelling “Q Photo Exhibition.”


c) Cover Story: Likhang Bayan 5 “Mga Tradisyonal na Sining at Larong Pinoy"

An exhibit of traditional Filipino art forms including Puni, Pabalat, Abolorio, Atka and Rattan Weaving.

d) Wayang Wahyu: An Exhibition of Biblical Art in Indonesian Shadow Puppetry,

An exhibit by Baroto Murti Anindito, a candidate for the Master of Fine Arts degree in the UST Graduate School.


e) Manila Art: 3rd Philippine International Art Fair, page 5

The biggest government program for visual arts with over 300 art pieces composed of a variety of paintings, installation art, sculptures, and drawings exhibited by the top art galleries in the Philippines.


f) Liszt Meets Jazz, page 6

Darren Matias, a Thomasian Alumnus, rendered his farewell piano concert at the UST Museum. He performed Lizst’s “Sonata in B minor “ Mozart-Say’s “Rondo Alla Turca” and many others.


g) MAPUA Cardinal Singers at the UST Museum, page 6

The Mapua Cardinal Singers performed at UST Museum for a farewell concert before leaving to compete in the Hongkong International Youth and Children’s Choir Competition and Festival.
